ASSOCIATION HALL WORKING BEE 29 July 2007Trip leader: Peter Warren Grade of Trip: Hard Yakka Yakka-ees: Dave Young, Michael van der Velden, Dick Stoppelbein Cheer Squad: Loretta Young, Elaine Warren, Margaret Stoppelbein Task: Install a second hand kitchen I thought that I would be smart and rock up at 9.30 am instead of the scheduled time set down for 8.30am. Surely things would be underway and half finished by now? I mean, what can I add being a completely incompetent person when it comes to tools and installations (isn’t that why you have yellow pages?). Where is everybody?? Have I got the wrong place as my heart started pumping with anxiety? Luckily Peter turned up (as he had to get some bits and pieces) and then the others turned up. Well into it we went. Ripping out the old kitchen (easier said then done) and then trying to work out how a second hand kitchen from a different sized room can fit a room a tad smaller. But we Mitsubishi people are clever. A cut here, a lop there, a quick trip to Bunning’s, bend a pipe, knock up a frame and soon it fitted. In fact, it looked pretty good and in a way it was better than the main kitchen upstairs. How did we do it? Well, have you ever seen the survivor show on TV where everyone has an idea on how a task should be undertaken and nothing actually gets done because everyone has a different opinion? Nope, we were not like that at all (lol). Just as well our trip leader had us under control and Tail End Charlies David Y, Michael v and Dick S knew what they were doing because I certainly didn’t. The kitchen is not completely finished and will need more work so next time more volunteers are needed. Big thanks to the wives’ cheer squad who watched all the antics and to Michael for doing welding on the club trailer at the same time. If anyone wants a kitchen installed you know who to call!!!
