Fraser Island Trip ...  Dec 27-28   2007

The weather gods were certainly not smiling on this year's Christmas/New Year holiday makers, and with the help of the severe low hovering off Fraser Island and the advice of QPWS, Huby's trip to Fraser Island had to be aborted after only two VERY ENJOYABLE days!

Oh well Huby, we got a taste of how well you can organise a fun trip up dead end tracks, get huge tarps over picnic tables to hold off the rain (unless you're silly enough to sit under the join), provide lunch time shelters off the top of that hold-everything-ute of yours, and agonise over the hard decisions that had to be made.

You said it was your last trip Huby, but ............  we want to try again next year!!!!  What do you think, Mr Vink????

Meeting briefing north of Rainbow Beach - 10am Dec 27 Off we go on the ferry Whoops! This track doesn't reach Dilly ... turn around! Unplanned beach access. Easy over.
Tighten the load Huby! All on the beach. Enjoying the beautiful sand at Lake Boomanjin between showers. Secret men's work - split tyre. Young Jack discovers the water
A hardy family! Yeh, we love the rain! Queensland summer??? Dour faces as Huby passes on QPWS evacuation orders. Packed up and ready to go.
Beautiful Central Station. One umbrella for the bin! Lunch at Lake McKenzie - the weather is getting to Bernie by now! The tracks are getting a little wet!! The beach is in sight.
No swimming today! Off down the beach - a good run. Back on the Dilli Village access road, track, or whatever you like to call it! Line up on the beach. The Manta Ray evacuates the masses - Dec 28  5pm
