CLEAR MOUNTAIN DAY TRIP

        – JUNE 29, 2008

Decisions, decisions, decisions…….. Who was going to drive today, it was so close to home, what the heck, let’s take both cars.  So we did, meeting up with the group of approximately 11 vehicles at McDonalds Albany Creek for breakfast.
Unfortunately Chris Lockyer and his mates went to the wrong McDonalds’ ……  Aspley.   We finally headed off for Clear Mountain about 8.45am once Chris arrived and Richard had completed his briefing.   It’s hard to believe there were actually 4 wheel drive tracks amongst the houses.  To my surprise nobody seemed to be bothered by us and in some cases the neighbours came out to say hello.

The tracks were easy to medium with a little bit of water and mud to give variety, thankfully no lantana.  As we drove around the back lots of the mountain, the views of Lake Samsonvale and the houses which over looked it was spectacular not to mention the views of Caloundra and Morton Bay, here we stopped for morning tea.

Clear Mountain might be a small park to drive in but it is a lot of fun and even though we had completed all the tracks by midday, including a very steep track where we all had to reverse along the top track to allow everyone to come up the hill, it was decided to go back down that hill and do it all over again.    We ended up having lunch were we had morning tea, which didn’t bother us and allowed Josh to cool down the motor of his Shorty.

I think I can vouch for everyone that it was a wonderful Sunday drive, great company and good conversation.

Thank you Richard for organizing the trip on such short notice and those who accompanied him on the recce.
