Nerang State Forest - Day Trip Sunday, 13 JulyParticipants -
Well, what an interesting day. We all met at the Coles store in Nerang ready for a day trip which we assumed would simply be a rare opportunity for a day of driving through one of our state forests. On arrival we were surprised to be introduced to Rob Brockman, Scott Albion and their families and Stuart Grant, all from Nundah Mitsubishi and who had come to join us for the day. Along with them they brought 2 new/demo Mitsubishi Pajero vehicles together with a new Triton 4 cab ute kindly provided for the day by Mitsubishi Australia and all of which were available for us to drive during the day`s proceedings. This now brought the number of vehicles participating in the day to 7. After the usual trip leader’s formalities were completed we set off to our destination, lying only about three or four streets away. Some adjusted tyre pressures and we then proceeded to follow our fearless leader Glenn through minor creek crossings, loose surface areas, sandy stretches and other fairly interesting terrain. We were amazed at Glenn`s familiarity with the roads (tracks) in the forest. Nothing swayed him from the correct path all day. We all thought it was certainly an achievement until we discovered he had cleverly saved the entire route previously in his GPS. There had to be a first time though of course. Round about now it was lunch time, so while I was reaching for the sangas in the bag the Nundah Mitsubishi guys announced that they had brought sausages etc. for a BBQ. They intended to create it for all of us at the park Glenn had found for our enjoyment in Nerang, so this was well received by all. All participants successfully completed the day without mishap, even when Glenn and I took one of the demo Pajeros down a rocky track. The leather seats felt (and smelt) so right, the sound proofing so absolute, the traction control (ATC) so capable and the hill descent control (EBAC) - well, it`s like having somebody down there watching over you………..enough!!!. Thank you to Glenn for his efforts, thank you to Nundah Mitsubishi for their huge contribution to the day and thank you everyone for the congenial company. Dean Merkel Back to Top
