Squeaky Front Suspension *

Does your Pajero front suspension squeak when you bounce it up and down? Here’s what causes it:

The lower control arm (wishbone) is mounted at its inner ends to the chassis via two rubber bushes on either side. These bushes have an integrated metal tube through which the main pivot bolts pass. When these bolts are tightened the inner tube is crimped to the control arm. If it squeaks it is because the bolt is not tight enough and the tube is rubbing on the control arm and pivot bolt. Tighten the bolt/nut at every service or the constant movement will wear a step into the control arm, which becomes a major repair.
