Reporters and Photographers- "How To" Guide This is a guide for those people lucky enough to be appointed to author a written report and/or provide photos for the Diamond Torque Magazine, and for the Mitsubishi 4WD Club web site. Magazine and Web Reports Reports should be forwarded to the Magazine Editor preferably as a WORD doc. Please do not embed photos in your report. Pick three or four of the best, give them meaningful filenames, compress and email separately. Up to 20 or 30 photos may be sent to the webmaster for the web. Tables are much easier to convert to web format than tabs, so please use tables where possible for any tables of data eg Trip Plans Please make sure you include :
You will be aware of the wide web audience, so take care to avoid detailed personal names and addresses or phone numbers, and avoid reporting anything which may be regarded as sensitive to any person or organisation - thanks! PhotosPhotos on the web are stored separately from the document, with a link from the document to the appropriate photo. The web report can include up 10, 20 or 30 photos (within reason!!), but please send them SEPARATELY from the Trip Report document. To assist in matching the right photos to the right report, and keeping them in the correct sequence, please name digital photos in the following format :
This makes it easy to cut 'n paste and keep them in sequence - the webmaster will thank you! If you are doing BOTH report and photos, then it would be great if you can include in the WORD document an appropriate place-marker description for the photo, plus its number.
Photos may be "doctored" before publishing to the web, and will be compressed. Send photos in whatever format you have available - emailed digital images are best, but printed photos are OK, and can be scanned. If you can reduce the digital size to < 600 pixels wide, and less than 60Kb, then that will lessen the load on your email provider, (and ours!), and enable them to load fast on the web. If you have any queries, please contact the WebMaster. Thanks, and Happy Reporting and Photographing!! Back to Top |
