Easy Trip
Mainly touring type trip using well formed tracks or roads. May require occasional use of
four wheel drive. No recovery likely.
Vehicle: Suitable for a standard unmodified four wheel drive (4WD) vehicle in good
mechanical condition.
Driver: Suitable for novice and beginner four wheel drivers.

Medium
Trip
This type of trip can contain tracks that have steep climbs and descents, side slopes,
deep water crossings with muddy, rough and overgrown sections. Recovery situations are
possible.
Vehicle: The vehicle should preferably have more aggressive and larger than
standard tyres, good suspension, recovery equipment and suitable solid recovery points
fitted to the front and rear of the vehicle. The vehicle must also be mechanically
sound and carry the minimum recovery gear.
Driver: Suitable for the more experienced driver who has successfully completed a
driver awareness course.

Hard
Trip
This type of trip can contain a combination of very steep climbs and descents, side
slopes, very deep water, very muddy, very rough or overgrown tracks. Recovery situations
are very likely. The trip leader must ensure adequate recovery equipment is carried
in the convoy.
Vehicle: The vehicle should have larger more aggressive tyres in good condition,
improved wheel travel, good ground clearance, suspension, and suitable solid recovery
points fitted to the front and rear of the vehicle. A full list of recovery equipment
should also be carried in/on the vehicle.
Driver: Suitable for very experienced driver with capabilities that satisfy the
trip leader.
