Experience Weekend
The Mitsubishi 4WD Owners Club of Queensland invites you to experience all the club has to offer! This trip will be hosted at Black Duck Valley in the picturesque Lockyer Valley where we will explore 4WD tracks, cover some important 4WD basics and enjoy a day full of fun.
This trip will cater for all makes and models of 4WD vehicles and is open for all visitors or guests to attend who would like to experience the club culture. This trip is also open for new members (under 2 years) to attend.
Some of the topics covered on the weekend include:
- Principles of 4WDing
- Driving up and down moderate inclines
- Driving techniques for different terrains
- Approach, departure and ramp over angles
- Driving on side slopes
- Snatch strap recoveries
- Driving to cause minimal environmental impact
- Convoy procedure

Visitors & Guests: If you are attending this trip and have not previously attended a club trip please fill out the attached participation form. This will enable us to contact you should there be any changes or updates.
All participants: Please familiarise yourself with the location of the park to ensure a smooth arrival as Telstra reception is limited. Optus' customers enjoy very good reception throughout most parts of the park.
Meeting Place and Time:
For camping visitors – You are able to arrive from Friday afternoon (3pm). Camp will be in the main campsite near the office (keep an eye out for the club flags)
For day trippers – The day will begin with a trip briefing at 10am. Please ensure you have arrived and checked in with the office by 9:30am to ensure a smooth start to the day.
Approx. Finish Time: 3pm Saturday. This experience weekend is run parallel to a club camp so participants who are camping can stay Saturday night. If you enjoy the Saturday experience there may be the option of another drive on the Sunday morning.

4WDing: $30 per day
Camping: $15 per person per night (children under 3 free)
Payment is to be made at the park office at check in. EFTPOS facilities are available.
Facilities:
Toilets and hot showers are available on site.
Rubbish bins are also provided.
Powered camp sites are available.
Food and drink facilities are not available – Please ensure you bring adequate supplies for your trip.
It Is Recommended That You:
- Take sufficient water and food for the duration of your trip
- Fill up with fuel to ensure you have enough to return
- Take sunscreen, insect repellent and a hat
Minimum Safety Gear Requirements For All Trips:
- Enclosed footwear is mandatory for all off road trips
- Rated recovery points
- Snatch strap
- Two rated shackles (soft shackles accepted)
- Winch/strap damper
- First aid kit
- Fire extinguisher
- UHF 80 channel two way radio (handheld is fine)
- No illicit substance use or firearms permitted on any club activities
