Rating: Social, Easy, Medium, Hard & Extreme - Something for Everyone!
James H and I would like to welcome you to attend the Annual Mitsi Club Christmas in July weekend. This year we will be proudly hosting our event at our Silver Off-Road Partner's venue, Black Duck Valley 4x4 and Camping. We invite everyone to attend for what will be a fantastic social experience mixed in with a touch of adventure for those who choose!
Black Duck Valley is located 35 minutes southwest of Gatton in the Lockyer Valley QLD. The property is sprawled across hills and gullies that are scattered with 4x4 tracks that cater for all. There are flushing toilets, hot & cold showers, a massive communal open-air shelter with stage and power, open campgrounds with allocated fire pits, private shelters and kiosk. You'll enjoy the beautiful rolling hill views, watching the sunset with a roaring fire and 100 of your friends. Can it get any better than this?
We have been working hard with our social officers to make sure we have plenty of scenic / social trip options around the Lockyer valley for those not wanting to put their vehicles in low range, and those trips will be advertised closer to the weekend. Those who attended last year can attest to the variety and beauty of the area!
Part of our deal with BDV gives us access to the massive undercover area next to the campgrounds for the weekend, and we will host a BYO dinner on Saturday night with some light entertainment. Pack your Xmas decorations as the theme for this evening will be your best xmas/ugly sweater, with prizes awarded for best sweater (think warm because it will be chilly!). Those of you who like to duck off early to bed will be glad to hear it's a short walk back to the main camping area, so noise from the nightowls amongst us should be pretty minimal.
There is limited power, so please only book a powered site if you require it for medical reasons. We will be able to fit about 22-26 powered sites in the main camp area, and it will be first in best dressed, so book your powered site tickets now.
Christmas in July is an important trip on the annual club calendar and is very popular. We have picked a venue that can hold us easily and is accessible by 2WD, with easy access for vans of any type and close to surrounding towns for people who may not choose to camp. The 4x4 access fee is only applicable for days when people want to drive. So, if you only drive on Saturday inside the park, you will only need to pay one fee for that. If you don't intend to put your car into low range, you will not be charged.
A number of close-by towns offer B&B style accomodation if you are unable to camp anymore, and it's a short drive back to Brisbane for most people, so if you want to day trip out for the Saturday night festivities, that's also an option!
The club has secured a 30% discount on all camping fees for our members. Guests and non-club members will have to pay the full price on the weekend.
Children under 3 are free for camping.
PLEASE NOTE THE PARK IS ONLY OPEN FRIDAY TO MONDAY - MAXIMUM 3 NIGHTS CAMPING.PLEASE DO NOT PAY FOR ADDITIONAL CAMPING NIGHTS.
Firewood is unable to be collected within the park. We request all members to either bring a bag or firewood or alternately utilise the firewood ticket option to assist with the provision of firewood.
No 4WDing on Monday.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible!
Cheers
James H and Brad W
