Itinerary

• Before 8:00 - Please purchase any items you need for the trip from the bakery and ensure you are fuelled up.
• 8:00 - Meet on the grassed seating area to the side of the Dayboro Bakery (corner of Williams and Railway Street).  Trip briefing.
• 8:15 - Depart Dayboro
• 8:20 - Entry to forest, air down.
• 11:30 - Mount Byron Lookout.
• 12:30 - Picnic lunch at The Gantry (Participants may depart here or continue for one more leg of the forest).
• 1:00 - Trip continues.
• 2:00 - Trip concludes at Dayboro, in the carpark behind the Visitor Information centre via Heathwood Street. 

There is one service station with air, or use own compressor to air up.

• 3:00: Visit the Dayboro Information Centre (volunteer dependent) also Hay cottage, the War Memorial (Dawn Services) and Gelateria for ice creams.

Equipment:

• Recovery equipment.  (It has been wet and sections of the path are currently incredibly muddy.)
• UHF radio channel 16
• Camera/phone
• Good quality shoes or hiking boots
• Drinking water
• Binoculars
• Spray jacket
• Snacks
• Picnic food and thermos for a stop at the Gantry
• Old towels for the car floor if it is wet and muddy.

Dayboro Bakery

Dayboro Bakery is a long-standing fixture in the town's history, with baking roots dating back to the early 1900s through the Kelly family's 1910 bakery. It is currently operated by owners Steve and Amanda, who purchased the bakery without prior experience.

Mount Me Forest

Mount Mee forest (Dahmongah) historically served as a rich timber source for red cedar, hoop pine, and hardwood, with settlement beginning around 1873. Formerly a state forest, it became part of D'Aguilar National Park in 2000–2009, transitioning from logging to conservation. The Gantry Day Use Area now marks the site of its former sawmill industry.

The Gantry

Discover the legacy of a sawmill that operated here from the 1930s when boilers ran the steam engine right through to 1981.  It was saved from demolition by the locals.  If you're feeling energetic, the Piccabeen walk starts and finishes opposite the picnic area and is only 20 minutes in duration.
